Food is one of the most important things we have in life- and we should all have enough knowledge about food to be able to live a long and happy life. It should not be a burden- nor should it be boring. Food should be something that makes you thrive to be able to live the life you want, it should bring people together in the most wonderful way and last but not least- it should be fun.
My food philosophy is balance and moderation, as should everything else in life be. By keeping it simple, yet delicious and appetizing, it will make you feel more sattisfied- and more happy, beautiful and fulfilled.
I want to show- and inspire you to realize that nutritious food shouldn’t be boring nor expensive, it should be fun and full of flavors.
I wasn’t always this excited about food. During my teenage years I ate a lot more than I should have and you could tell on my weight. I wasn’t directly overweight, but I had no clue about nutrition, amount or physical activity- nor did it interest me. As time grew and I got older I became more interested in nutrition and physical activity- so much so that by this time I could not imagine a life without it. When you devote to a lifestyle like this- over several years- it kind of turns into something you just have to do, and something you actually enjoy doing.
I’ve had my ups and downs when it comes to food- I’ve even been too healthy at one point, where it almost took over my entire life, being way too obsessed with physical acticvity and healthy “clean” eating. Luckily I got out of it on my own, realizing that wasn’t a life I wanted to lead, so I ended up where I am today. A balance between the healthy food and the amount of exercise that I do- and I don’t want to look back. I’m at a place where I don’t exercise because I have to, but because I enjoy moving my body and getting to know it better for each (yoga) practice. A place where I can eat pretty much what I want- and not affect my weight. All I need is a good portion of knowledge and a huge interest for a better lifestyle.
When I first started exercising I read a really amazing and inspiring tip- tell yourself that you are “sporty” and “fit” several times a day, you can even write it on your bathroom mirror. Even though you might not believe it- or feel like every one else is more sporty and fit than you, if you say it enough, you start to feel it- you believe it, and then you’re suddenly one of us.
Keep telling yourself good things and good things will come.
If I can do it, so can you!
